PIPEROIDs are paper craft robots you make with only paper pipes and scissors in less than 30
minutes. No tape or glue is needed.
Q:
I have never seen something like this before. Have they been around for long?
A:
PIPEROIDs are designed and inspired by designer Takashi Tsunoda in Japan. Original PIPEROID classic models
were released in 2006 and have been very popular in Japan, but only recently we were able to
automate most of the manufacturing process allowing us to increase production capacity to be
offered in the US.
Q:
Is there an instruction on how to make them?
A:
Yes, the packet includes simple to follow pictorial instructions in both English and Japanese.
Q:
What age range are they targeted for?
A:
Customer demographic varies from small kids who just started using scissors to seniors who
love crafting. There's no question teenagers get fascinated with them but also young adults
including lot of women love PIPEROIDs to be placed as a decorative item in their home or office.
With smaller kids under 10, it would be a good bonding project for parents to work together with
them to train their fine motor skills and inspire their creativity. They certainly enjoy taking part of
the project whether it be cutting, folding, or simply finding the right pipes.
Q:
How long does it take to build one?
A:
It generally takes less than 30 minutes to complete one packet consisting of either one or two
robots. Some of the easier robots can be made in less than 10 minutes!
Q:
Which ones are the easiest to make? How about the hardest?
A:
The easiest one to make in the current line-up is the lion brothers Shishitaro & Komajiro. The
hardest one to make are likely Guyzer & Bean and Kibatora, but even those can be made in less
than 30 minutes so it is not that much harder.
Q:
Will you have other new models in the future?
A:
Yes, we generally release new models every season (2-3 months). Please check back on this website regularly for latest information on PIPEROIDs.
